Meet Pastor Reggie Rodriguez

Although Reggie was exposed to the gospel at a young age, he believes he truly came to saving faith in Jesus Christ in 2010, when God graciously opened his heart to see his sin, his need for a Savior, and the beauty of the gospel.

Looking back, Reggie is grateful for faithful neighbors who took him to church and taught him about God’s Word. But over time, the Lord showed him that knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Christ.

Since then, God has continued His work of sanctification, shaping Reggie’s life, doctrine, and ministry. One truth that deeply marks his preaching is this: salvation is from beginning to end an act of God’s amazing grace.

When Reggie looks back over his life, one thing becomes increasingly clear: God has been incredibly gracious to him.

He is a sinner saved by grace, still being sanctified and conformed into the likeness of Christ, and he considers it a tremendous privilege to serve as an under-shepherd of Jesus Christ.

Some of the most formative years of Reggie’s Christian life came through membership at Bellflower Baptist Church, where he grew in love for the local church and began to sense God’s call to pastoral ministry.

In 2020, Reggie began seminary and served as a pastoral intern, receiving hands-on training in preaching, shepherding, church leadership, and the faithful handling of God’s Word.

In May 2025, he earned a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduation, Reggie and Sondra prayed for the Lord to provide a church where he could serve as an under-shepherd of Jesus Christ.

The Lord answered that prayer by opening the door to Desert Highlands Church, and with Sondra’s loving support, Reggie joyfully stepped into this new season of ministry.

These passages capture Reggie’s desire for ministry: to watch his life and doctrine carefully, faithfully preach God’s Word, love God’s people, and shepherd the flock Christ has entrusted to him.

Reggie serves as a bi-vocational pastor, which means he also works outside the church.

For approximately fifteen years, he has worked in hospice care in administration, business development, and chaplaincy. That work has given him the privilege of walking alongside patients and families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Those experiences have shaped his compassion for people who are suffering and deepened his conviction about eternity and the urgency of the gospel.

For more than eight years, Reggie has also served in jail ministry at Pitchess Detention Center, proclaiming the hope of forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and new life through Jesus Christ.
